This is a beautiful article, and I strongly endorse the opinions of the author. Time and again, I've seen the elections in this campus go through a series of hoops, as the people involved in them find countless means to circumvent the system and rig the outcome. Time and again, the people of this campus make a mockery of the noble ideal that is a democracy. When questioned as to why they do it, their only justification is that "everybody else does it". I've tried to question the validity of the system a few times.
